MVTP and NiaHealth Pilot
MVTP has partnered with NiaHealth, Canada’s leading health benefit, to help you proactively manage your health. Open to all employees—sworn and civilian—MVTP is among the first police departments in Canada to offer this program.
Through the program, MVTP covers a comprehensive 40+ biomarker blood draw, up to 3–4× more tests than a typical annual check-up, spanning heart, metabolic, bone, kidney, and liver health. Testing is completed conveniently at the MVTP station, with no travel or time off required.
You may also add a spouse at a discounted rate ($275) and choose optional advanced tests, including gut microbiome ($335), VO2 max ($200), and DEXA scan ($200).

Complete your onboarding
As part of registration, you will be required to complete our 15-minute questionnaire to share details about your medical history and lifestyle. Completing this step is essential before scheduling your blood test and we will incorporate the results into your NiaHealth personal report.
Please note: In partnership with the University of Alberta and NiaHealth, MVTP participants will have the option to participate in a research study. The study will investigate the utility of NiaHealth dashboard exposure on health behaviours, willingness to change for health and the degree to which users are satisfied with their user experience.

The group blood draws for MVTP employees are scheduled throughout January. Exact dates, times, and locations will be shared via email.

NiaHealth’s services are not covered under public/government health insurance plans in Canada. However, our service is an HSA-eligible expense (in addition to CRA-eligible medical expense), but it is recommended that you check with your insurer first. You should review the terms of your private health insurance plan or consult with your insurance plan provider to determine if NiaHealth’s service is eligible for reimbursement under your private health insurance plan or any other supplemental benefits.
All biomarkers are ordered and reviewed by an Authorized Medical Provider licensed to practice in your province. If you require additional information for insurance coverage, please contact us directly with the specific information required (via our contact us form). Each insurance provider may require different information for eligibility.
