Nervonic acid is important for myelin (the “insulation” around nerves). It supports brain development and may aid nerve repair in disorders that damage myelin.
Levels of individual fatty acids are not clinically helpful in isolation. Your Omega 3 Index, Omega-3/Omega-6 ratio, and EPA:AA ratio provide a more comprehensive assessment of your overall fatty acid status. We look at the results of those tests to determine whether you are getting the right amount.
