Saprochaete is a fungi group found on many surfaces and can be a regular member of the human gut microbiome [1]. Some species of Saprochaete are also cultivated on cheese rind and fermented poi, a staple in Hawaiian cuisine [2]. While low levels may be common, Saprochaete can cause infections (primarily in people with weakened immune systems).
