NiaHealth does not prescribe Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), also known as hormone therapy, menopausal hormone therapy, or estrogen replacement therapy. However, during 1:1 consultations, we provide information about hormone therapy and can provide you information about clinics in your area that provide HRT. NiaHealth focuses on evidence-based, individualized lifestyle recommendations tailored to the peri-menopause and menopause stages.
Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is medication that contains female hormones to replace those that the body stops producing during menopause. Although HRT has been controversial, increasing evidence suggests that starting HRT early in menopause can be beneficial for many women. HRT is available in various forms, including pills, patches, creams, and vaginal creams or suppositories, each with specific advantages and disadvantages.
Menopause is officially diagnosed after one year without menstruation. While hormone tests can indicate if menopause may be approaching, NiaHealth provides these tests for insight only — they do not constitute a formal diagnosis.
NiaHealth offers hormone testing to support informed decision-making for women in the peri-menopause to post-menopause stages. For those under 45 or over 55 with hormonal health concerns, a more comprehensive evaluation, including individualized lab tests and potentially imaging, is advised. This type of assessment is best managed by a primary care provider, gynecologist, or endocrinologist.
NiaHealth provides a requisition that you will use so you don’t need to worry about this.
No - we do not prescribe medication. However, we do provide, where applicable, suggestions. For interventions (including medications and supplements), we include a note of suggestions that you can discuss with your current medical team. Prescriptions are left to their discretion.
We offer advice to enhance your current health state, emphasizing prevention through exercise, nutrition, sleep, and emotional well-being but not medical management of existing illness. If we discover any incidental health issues, we provide suggestions for discussion with your primary care provider. While our suggestions impact overall health and various chronic conditions, comprehensive medical management of existing illnesses remains the responsibility of your current medical team.
Our standard pricing includes a blood draw in the comfort of your home or office via one of our licensed phlebotomists; this visit usually takes no longer than 15 minutes. If you are in Ontario, you can save $100 by going into any one of our partner lab locations.
It is required that you fast for 8-12 hours for most tests. For this reason, we recommend that you plan for a morning test.
